Description

Build this customized version of the Yamaha XV1600 Road Star. The standard kit is available as item 14080. The XV1600 Road Star featured a 1,600cc V-twin that made it one of the most powerful motorcycles of its day, with telescopic front suspension and a rear shock tucked out of sight for a classic hardtail look to accentuate the low-slung lines, and liberal use of chrome. Customized bikes had side bags, a larger windshield, and many more variations. This customized version of the low-slung XV1600 Road Star is recreated with metal-plated and clear parts, plus those recreating customized parts. Includes decals to recreate two marking options (green & black, or purple) which were available on bikes sold in Japan in 2000, plus masking stickers to help with the paint job. The delicate fins of the air-cooled engine, spoke wheels and the slender brake and clutch lines included. NEW PARTS included: Enlarged wind shield, additional lamps, backrest and sissy bar, side bags, and riveted seats.

Yamaha's XV1600 Road Star first went on sale in 1999 and proved a huge hit with what was at the time the biggest production bike engine at a whopping 1,600cc. In conjunction with a 20kg crank weight and thanks to its rigid mount that powerplant treated riders to a unique thrum. The front of the XV1600 Road Star employed a telescopic fork and the rear a link type setup that hid its damper inside the frame for a rigid-esque look. Indeed, a large part of the bike's allure was in its looks, and the relative ease with which its owner could add after-market parts to truly customize their ride. From side bags to an extended windshield, there was plenty on offer for those looking to make their Road Star stand out from the crowd.
