Description
The Mitsubishi F-2 is a support jet fighter of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force has been defending against threats such as fighters and bombers with the F-15J interceptor fighter, and against threats such as ships and tanks with the F-1 support fighter. The F-2 was developed jointly by Japan and the United States as a successor to the F-1.
Initially called FS-X, this aircraft is based on the F-16 and is designed using the latest technology. Its external features include a fuselage and main wings that are slightly larger than the F-16, a larger radome to accommodate a new radar, and a three-section canopy to deal with bird strikes during low-altitude flight. Carbon-based composite materials, which Japan is proud of around the world, are used in various parts of the aircraft, such as the main wings, reducing the aircraft weight. In addition, CCV technology reflecting the experimental results of the T-2 CCV aircraft has also been introduced, and the first fly-by-wire side stick has been adopted for an Air Self-Defense Force aircraft, achieving safe and excellent flight performance.
