Morris Mini Cooper Racing 1/24

The Morris Mini was introduced in October 1959 and was a departure from automotive designs of that era. By using a 2-box styling, they produced a four-seat compact car about 3 meters in length that used a front engine, front wheel drive layout. It initially had an 848cc, 34hp engine, which allowed a speed of 115km/h. Four large adults to be seated comfortably. Its patented “Hydrolastic” four-wheel independent suspension system, introduced in 1964 replaced very compact rubber cone system. It performed well on racing circuits. John Cooper of British racing fame, enhanced the engine and introduced it as the Morris Mini Cooper. A series of modifications began in 1961. Competition versions of the 1275S and 970S were often known as “Works Minis”. The racing Mini proved its potential by dominating races held in 1964 and 1965. It won the 1967 1,300cc class title in the British Saloon Car Championship (BSCC), the 1968 European Touring Car Championship, and again clinched the BSCC title that same year.
