Canada Post Strike 2024: What It Means for Your Orders and How We’re Adapting

As many of you may already know, Canada Post is facing a strike in 2024, which has impacted mail and parcel deliveries across the country. This disruption poses challenges for businesses and customers alike, with potential delays in shipping and uncertainty surrounding delivery timelines. At Panda Hobby, we’re committed to ensuring your orders arrive promptly and safely, so we’re implementing new solutions to keep things running smoothly during this period.
### Our Response: Switching to Alternative Couriers
To avoid delays and maintain reliable service, we’ll temporarily suspend using Canada Post for all shipments. Instead, we’ve partnered with alternative couriers who can help us keep orders moving. These partners have reliable track records for timely deliveries and customer service, so we’re confident they’ll provide the seamless experience you expect.
### Important Changes to Shipping Options
Here’s a breakdown of the changes you can expect while Canada Post is on strike:
1. **No Shipping to P.O. Boxes**
Unfortunately, with Canada Post out of commission, we’ll be unable to ship to P.O. boxes, as our partner couriers only deliver to physical addresses. If you typically use a P.O. box, we kindly ask that you provide a residential or business address for shipping during this period.
2. **Choose Your Preferred Courier**
We understand that everyone has their preferred courier, and we want to give you as much flexibility as possible. If you’d like us to use a specific courier service, please let us know when placing your order. While we’ll do our best to accommodate these requests, please note that additional fees may apply depending on the courier.
3. **Up-to-Date Shipping Costs and Estimated Delivery Times**
With the switch to different couriers, shipping costs and delivery times may vary slightly from our usual Canada Post rates and estimates. Our team is working to make sure all shipping fees and timelines are clearly outlined if any changes occur. Please stay tuned to our social media, website updates and email newsletters.
4. **Some orders may require extra shipping fee**
As with the change to other couriers, some shipping address that are usually fulfilled by Canada Post might be only serviced with another major courier may require additional fees and not valid with our flat rate shipping. At those times, we will reach out to the customer to explain the situation and request for additional fee if the shipping cost exceeds our flat rate threshold.

CANADA POST UPDATE NOV 14
Canada Post will continue to operate, but customers should anticipate delays in the event of strike activity
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) will be in a legal position to begin strike activity on November 15 at 12:01 a.m. ET, unless agreements are reached before then.
In the event of rotating strikes by CUPW, Canada Post will continue delivering and make every effort to minimize service disruptions. However, customers should be prepared for possible delays in the processing and delivery of mail and parcels.
What customers should expect during a rotating strike
Canada Post’s operations will continue should rotating strikes occur.
Rotating strike activity may be isolated to specific locations, affecting those areas for a specified period of time.
During a rotating strike, Canada Post will continue to accept, process and deliver mail and parcels in unaffected areas. However, shutting down facilities or regions with rotating strikes can cause immediate ripple effects throughout the network.
Once an item is inducted in the network, it will be secure but cannot be retrieved. Items will be delivered as quickly as possible on a first-in, first-out basis after a disruption is over and operations resume.
Processing and delivery may take some time to fully return to normal following a rotating strike.
Service guarantees
On-time delivery guarantees for parcel services remain in effect. However, they may be temporarily suspended for items that are processed or delivered in areas affected by a labour disruption. Customers will be notified if on-time delivery guarantees are suspended more broadly.
Due to the uncertainty caused by possible strike activity, we will be suspending Date Specific delivery for Neighbourhood Mail mailings. We will notify you when Date Specific delivery is reinstated.
